Placing Misc_Bsp's

Post by Zkyo on Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:39 pm

I'm too lazy to rewrite it, so ill just copy what i told socratitos. tongue

Essentially, a misc_bsp is a map inside a map. It lets you place a [smaller] map while on another one. These are placed in the void most of the time.

They are using a misc_bsp, most likely placed in the void. Here's a guide for finding a buildable spot.

Okay, lets say you went into the void and found a fairly large buildable area. Your origin there is 13629 -6277 12675. To add the 2nd map, use a code like this:

Code:
/place misc_bsp * origin,13629 -6277 12657,bspmodel.mp/duel3

You can add spawnflags,1 to remove all the normal entities in the map (weapons, spawn points, npcs, etc.), but it will also remove sometimes necessary entities like doors and elevators. It's your choice to remove them all, or delete them manually.

That will place a copy of the map mp/duel3 at the origin. Save the map and reload it for the bsp to appear. Teleport to the origin (/gotopoint x y z), and find the map. I suggest you place a teleporter there so you can arrive easier.

Be very careful when building there. The misc_bsp is a solid entity and can be accedentally modified. Example: You aim at a misc_model_breakable, but you are slightly off and use /delent, which deletes the bsp.

Some maps might crash if a bsp is added (like hoth3). If this happens, the only way is to edit the actual .lmd file and remove the misc_bsp.

Last thing, be careful how many bsps you have. The more misc_bsps you have, the more unstable the map will become.
